Getting My Geek On

So, I joined the xkcd forums. That place is FILLED with geeks and clever people...
I've been a member of many forums (e.g. Twilighted, various HP ones), but they aren't for, well, deep discussion right? I see you, BBR ;)

So I posted about a pet peeve of mine.

It's people assuming I'm going to become a pharmacist, because I study pharmacology. No. However, it amuses me when people think studying pharmacology means I want to become a farmer! Lmao!

BUT this did spark a discussion. I have never managed to spark discussion on a forum before, so I was, just maybe, doing a little dork jig.

Something a little like this perhaps:

Yeah, certified Dork here.

Anyway, my other geeking out I've been doing this week, is discovering the radio version of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.

Please tell me you've heard of H2G2? This thing is chock full of quotable material!
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is an indispensible companion to all those who are keen to make sense of life in an infinitely complex and confusing Universe, for though it cannot hope to be useful or informative on all matters, it does at least make the reassuring claim, that where it is inaccurate it is at least definitively inaccurate. In cases of major discrepancy it's always reality that's got it wrong.
I've read the first 2 books of the trilogy in four parts, and they are brilliant. But I have no idea what goes on... the story arc is perhaps not that coherent. But who cares when they chuck out quotes like:
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.
Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws.
Ah, this is obviously some strange usage of the word 'safe' that I wasn't previously aware of.
Ok, think I've satisfied my inner geek for a little while. It'll pop its head up again very soon. My inner geek is very needy.

So, if you've read H2G2, favourite quotes? Also, I'm determined to start reading BOOKS again, so any recs??
